Marinette wanted to be a cop because she wanted to serve justice and truth. But she didn't always want that. She dreamed of becoming a cop for at least 8 years and she had her other reasons for it. This reason was an "incident" that happened a few days earlier before deciding her future career. There was a curtain black cat that was the cause of her trauma. But even though he was a criminal and she hated him for her reasons, after some time he somehow manages to make her fall in love with him.
