Anthony Royal The Architect of the High-rise is dead and Laing now lives in his old penthouse apartment on the 40th floor of the building. Things seemingly going his way in life now he is at the helm of the High-rise, although being the new top Alpha does come with great responsibilities. Also Laing's new chief surgeon position at the hospital adds to the weight on his shoulders and teaching the interns comes with a lot of stress too. One intern in particular, an Omega named Scarlett Anderson, sends his natural Alpha instincts into hyperdrive. Can he resist her? After all, he is her boss.

Mysteriously one day Laing finds stapled pieces of paper on his desk. At the top of the first page it is stamped with 'confidential' in a bold red font and a smudge indecipherable signature at the bottom of the last page. He realises they must have fallen out of a file and the said file's whereabouts are unknown to him. However, from his reading he discovers there's inhumane experiments ongoing at an unknown location, and what he has in his hands is a small piece of evidence of one of the poor unfortunate souls who has been 'approved.'
