Born, adopted, and raised in London, Ira has nobody to call her own when her mom passes away from pancreatic cancer. After a fallout with her uncle, who had promised to look after her in India, she finds herself in a strange country, desperately alone. There, she meets Junoon - a skinny and traumatized boy who has not allowed himself to feel happy since causing the accident that killed his girlfriend but spared him. In the months that follow, they slowly become friends, and then a little more. While learning to stand upright and coming out of their darkness, they fall in love with each other. Fast forward five years and the happy couple is now engaged. Junoon and Ira only have each other to call their own. When hunting for her birth family, Ira finds out that she has Huntington's disease, an incurable and progressive neurodegenerative disorder. In an instant, her 'happily ever after' morphs into a dark tale - a future where she is a writhing mess unable to exercise control over her mind or body, and her husband is chained to her in the name of love. A decade into her marriage, watching Junoon make sacrifices with a smile eats her up from the inside - from walking on eggshells around her temper to letting go of his dream of becoming a dad. As Ira's symptoms worsen, she decides that the day her husband's pity surpasses his love, she will end her life. When she drops this bombshell on Junoon, the world around him starts to crumble. The lines between love and selfishness disappear as his logical and loving selves collide. Eventually, he must decide between two impossible choices - watching Huntington's take her life or killing her. [[word count ~55,500]]

"You came into my life out of nowhere, Eliana, like a storm I never saw coming, and turned everything upside down. You stirred feelings in me I didn't even know I had. And now, just like that, you want to walk away? After everything? If that's really what you want, then fine... but before you go, I swear I'll make you fall in love with me. Maybe then, you'll realize this is where you belong... with me." After graduating from college, Eliana is ready to start a new chapter of her life. She dreams of joining her older sister abroad to help support their family, but everything changes when tragedy strikes. Her best friend, who is heavily pregnant, gets into a terrible accident on her way home. Miraculously, the baby survives, but her best friend doesn't make it. Now, Eliana is left devastated and burdened with an overwhelming responsibility. Her best friend had no other living family, so the newborn is left in her care. With no stable income, no solid plan for her future, and no experience in motherhood, Eliana is forced to make an impossible choice. The only hope she sees is to track down the baby's father, a man she deeply resents. She knows exactly where to find him. This man, as far as she knows, took advantage of her best friend during one of her lowest moments. The thought of facing him fills her with anger and disgust. But for the baby's sake, she gathers the courage to confront him. Their first meeting is tense. Eliana's heart is heavy with judgment and pain. What begins as a reluctant partnership turns into a tangled web of emotion, truth, and healing. Now Eliana must face the most difficult question of all: Can she trust the man she once hated... not just with the child, but with her own heart? P.S: This story is taglish.
