In the middle of the flower-blooming capital, Crocus, lives Lucy Heartfilia, the daughter of the dead celestial mage- Layla Heartfilia, and Jude Heartfilia, the establisher of the anti-magic-practice laws.

On July 2, X784, Lucy is requested by a TV company to set out on a trip to Tenrou island, fairy tail's sacred grounds when they were a legal guild, and search for clues about the crew's whereabouts. As they near the island, a magic shockwave cast by Mavis Vermillion, the first master of Fairy Tail, reduces the ship to splinters and kills everyone on board.

But in the morning, one survivor gets washed up the shore, surprising the crew.
