Henry Larksong is the greatest troubadour in England. Just ask him, he'll be the first and maybe only person to tell you this. Unfortunately for him, however, the Earl of Northumberland has taken him at his word. Driven mad by the death of his beloved wife, the Earl imprisons the arrogant minstrel and gives him an ultimatum. He has seven nights to write a song that will bring the dead woman back to life, and if he fails, he will swing from the gallows like the many musicians who came before him. With only his wits and the help of a sympathetic servant to rely on, he must scheme to escape from his unusual predicament.
