"Hi", she gave him a weak smile.
Two tiny letters and the sound of her melodious voice ... and just like that all the walls he had spent two long years building around his heart came crashing down on him with the weight of a million bricks. Every emotion he had buried deep inside came crawling back to the surface with crippling speed, carving its way through the cracks of his heart with an agonizing sting. All the cracks he had spent the past 26 months meticulously trying to fix to make his heart feel somewhat whole again ... they were now wide open again, allowing it to bleed out as if he had never done anything to fix it.
Jungkook physically felt the inside of his chest constrict and a huge lump form in his throat impeding him from breathing properly, yet simultaneously preventing him from letting out the heart-wrenching sob that suddenly threatened to escape.
He looked into the pair of almond-shaped eyes staring back at him and was immediately reminded of how their warm depth used to be his favorite place to escape to ... just a few years ago.
