"I was oblivious to the fact it was dangerous here. I missed the signs that were right in front of me, and now we are as good as dead." Evelyn and Esme have been best friends since the beginning of high school. Together they planned a trip to New Orleans at the Chateau Inn for a week and half. Their parents finally agreed they could go when they were both 19 years old. They have been saving and planning for this day for years. Finally the day comes and they're off. After a couple days of being at the hotel they have been noticing weird things happening. Evelyn then finds an anonymous letter written that warned them not to stay there. Before they could leave it was too late.

"I'm not afraid of you," I tell him, stepping closer into the darkness. "You should be," he tells me, sinking farther away from me. "I only cause death to those I touch." ******,****************************** For hundreds of years, they walked in the shadows. Among us, besides, they fought our battles and stood with us. Now they rise up taking over with a power no one understands. Evelyn was born into the world of darkness. There is no sunlight and is controlled by vampires. She knows the law that anyone out after midnight is free food for the poor souls that can't afford the blood banks. So one night wouldn't hurt, right?
