In the age of technology, it's certainly a great time to be alive. New technology by NeuraPlex, an up and coming research company, allows anyone to upload their mind to a server and be woken up in the future in a new body of their choosing. To top it off, participants feel as if no time has passed.

Natalie Coleman is one such person looking to enter the future. With a boyfriend who bailed last minute, a mom too sad to support her, and a dad who's anti-tech, the only person she has left is Eli. Together, they go through with the upload and plan to wake up 100 years in the future.

What was supposed to be a fun adventure in time turns into a nightmare. Natalie wakes up alone, or at least without Eli. Woken up in a room full of strangers, she finds out that it's been closer to a millennium from the date of her upload, and they're trapped to be the slaves of who Natalie assumes to be NeuraPlex.

Finding Eli is her first priority and escape is her second, but in a world where every uploaded mind is in an unfamiliar body and tied to company owned chips, these tasks are nearly impossible. Garry, his handler, introduces Xeno to the industrial version of the black box, allowing Xeno's pineal gland access to synthetic sensory perception with the turn of a dial, along with the Noumenol patch, a skin absorbed drug that stabilizes his vital signs so that he doesn't suffer a cardiac arrest. Xeno's initial mission is to test the black box on the field, under Garry's watchful eye, and to locate Trianne, an ex co-worker, ex model, ex pole dancer for the Shoki Pao, gone missing and showing signs of spontaneous human combustion, an emerging side effect of Black Magic, and a public safety hazard. All he has to do is bring Trianne back to Intellegella for treatment. It's that simple . . . according to Garry.

To slow the damage, scientists created L.O.V.E, short for Living Off Vital Emotions, a nanovaccine that numbs the virus and switches off all strong emotions. As a last resort and with a dying planet, the Supreme Government created the City, a place to contain the infected survivors suitable for the experiment. Those in the first stages of illness became ideal candidates to receive the neuroinhibitor. Having their feelings restrained and their memory altered, those who come of age are designated a life partner through a Selection process, thus preserving the humankind. A few decades after the trial had started, scientists had a major breakthrough. The nanites, which are highly chemically reactive organisms, are changing their bio-engineered purpose when dopamine levels are high. With a new generation of nanoids, stronger and smarter to fight the battle, the virus doesn't have a chance. Many attempts were made to create a man-made version of synthetic dopamine and each time the outcome was a disaster. Their goal is to create new generations, immune to the virus. These are called Purebloods, the offsprings of those who find pure love, the only cure to save them from a violent death. Running out of time, the Experiment entered in its final stages. To minimize the threats, the Colonies have sent their best soldiers to oversee the trial and protect its key subjects. If only things were going according to plan, or better...stay hidden. Lydia Armageddon, born on the nuclear fronts of the decimated America, was sold to be a child soldier of The World Capital and is found out as a Child of Blight, her trait being named 'Convergence.' The world is at risk of war once more, with the starting gun being fired for the race to control her. But I built it, like everything in our home. Where was I? Oh yes. Puppets. These Puppets are actually the reason I'm recording this. Point is, I need to save my family. That's why I'm recording this. If my tech works, we will be together forever. Sadly, it needs time to charge... I know, buzzkill. If it is successful, then this will change how people travel forever. You decide to be the first person to use it... However, it went horribly wrong. You pass out and wake up in a large neon city filled with strange humanoid creatures that appear to be animals... As if that wasn't bad enough.. You have to figure out where you are, and how to get back home.. but that won't be easy when people find out a new species just arrived in the city. I don't own any of the art used in the story.
