This is Harry Potter, the boy who cannot die. He calls that shit playing possum.
Harry once was blessed by God to live forever -- only it's more of a cursing than it seems. Unable to ever die, he takes to changing his identity every couple of year to avoid suspicion, and drinking his little heart out in the meantime.
Enter Draco Malfoy. Rich beyond belief with no real explanation of how he got there, beautiful, and mysterious -- he is also a human lie detector, and sees through Harry's facade in an instant.
Harry is forced to tell the truth or lose someone he is growing to love, and neither is an easy offer. Meanwhile, a figure from his past returns and one from Draco's continues to hang around.
Harry stands the only God in his way.

"Mr. Malfoy, where are you going? You just woke up from a great fall after all, I'm sure your friends can come here, instead of you going to them." Who was Malfoy? Oh right, it was probably him. A little bit late, he realised that he should have told her about the complete memory loss since he had no idea where he was going to go once he left the hospital-like room. On second thought, maybe making a scene would have actually been a good idea. Well, it was too late to turn back now. "I will just be going out for a little stroll...around. I must admit that I am in dire need of some fresh air. My, how long did you say I was out for again?" He put his hand to his chest like it was an absolute travesty to have not been told. Madam Pomfrey stood completely frozen for a long moment like this was the exact opposite of what she expected to happen when Draco woke up. "Mr. Malfoy, wait!" The witch eventually called out, but Draco was already out of the door. Draco wakes up in the hospital wing having no idea who he is and how he got there. Turns out he fell 20 feet down the stairs and got his memory wiped. What else could go wrong? Meeting Harry Potter definitely was fun, but can he figure out who obliviated him and get his memories back? Or will he be stuck like this for the rest of his life? Immediately after defeating Voldemort, Harry begins to have strange dreams, dreams that pull him once more into the realm of the newly dead. At first, the dreams are only a curious mystery, and Harry sets about putting his life back in order after the war. But when Harry dreams of Narcissa Malfoy, his life suddenly goes in a much different direction than the one he'd always imagined. This story ties up the loose ends about the Elder Wand and the Deathly Hallows. Choices of the Heart was written for the following prompt: "You are the true master of death, because the true master does not seek to run away from Death. He accepts that he must die, and understands that there are far, far worse things in the living world than dying." Note: The story contains conversations with dead people in dreams, most of these are older original characters, but there is one OC child. No actual deaths are portrayed and no canon characters die except for those who have already died in canon. I understand that death may not the easiest thing to read about for some, but I want to assure readers that I have tried to handle the concept of death in this story in the most uplifting way possible. This is not a story about loss and angst, but about finding hope and love, making choices, and trusting in the beauty and synchronicity of the universe, even if one crosses the boundaries between life and death.
