Conflagration

After his boarding school tuition fund runs dry, Bill Dixon is forced to return home to Schodack, a town under the yoke of a corrupt Sheriff's department and the location of his father's suicide thirteen years before. It is also the home of Meadow Brown, a girl several miles out of his league who, to Bill's astonishment, is anxiously awaiting his return.

Bill packs light on his journey back to Tennessee, but along with his duffel bag and aging Jeep Cherokee, he carries with him the memories of torment from his classmates, and a foundation of insecurity that was laid as a result. In an attempt to quiet this self doubt, Bill enlists the help of his troubled childhood friend who agrees to take him under his wing and expose him to the seedier elements of their hometown.

But in doing so the two trigger a series of events that quickly spirals out of control, ultimately leading to Meadow's kidnapping by a pair of local criminals. Soon Bill himself becomes a target, and in order to find Meadow and become the man he hopes to be, he must venture into a world that he has been shielded from for years. The stakes he faces are high. In his hands he not only holds Meadow's fate, but the fate of the local crime syndicate that has dominated the region for decades, staining this corner of Appalachia darker than coaldust.
