Jake Mitchell wanted nothing more than to be the nameless guy you pass on the way to your afternoon chemistry lecture every Friday. Familiar, but unknown at the same time. Just enough recognition to remember, but knowing so little that you make up stories for him in your head. That's the only reason he took the offer from Everett University to be a left-wing forward on their Division 1 hockey team. A forgotten team really. Dead last in their league and close to dead last in the division. It was just something to help pay the tuition, but nothing much to get any recognition. He gets to keep playing hockey, he can afford to go to an out-of-state school, and he can remain unknown. It's his perfect game plan.
Or well it was.
Until the worst possible series of events happens. The team wins their first game in 13 years, shocked fans catch Jake talking to a popular pro player after a game, and an unfortunate tweet blows up. All leading to Jake's face being plastered on every Twitter feed, Instagram story, and social media outlet that you can think of. His worst nightmare comes to life in real time.
Now with the help of his team, he has to figure out how to deal with his newfound fame while trying to get his bachelor's in chemical engineering and win as many damn hockey games as he possibly can before time runs out and he has to run again.
Except, maybe this time he won't have to.

That was why Everett University was the perfect place for him to play hockey. The team may have been Division 1, but the majority of its students forgot the team existed. The team is entering its thirteenth straight season without a single win. They're dead last in the New England Conference and just about dead last in Division 1 programs across the country. It is the perfect place for Jake. He gets money for his education and he gets to play hockey without living with the same issues he dealt with back home. Life is good. Until the team wins their first game of the season because of him. He really didn't mean to score one goal against the best team in the conference, let alone rack up a hat trick in his first collegiate game. But suddenly, he is in front of cameras during a post-game press conference and his name is being thrown around college hockey circles online and added to the draft predictions. But it's just hockey talk, right? Totally not a big deal. Until someone manages to leak the biggest secret he'd been keeping. Now the entire world knows he's a trans man and no one is letting him forget it. He's screwed. His plan for a life of privacy and without issue had failed. Now he has to deal with his overnight fame while trying to get his degree in mechanical engineering and try to keep living his life as normally as possible while the entire world knows every single one of his secrets. Everything is cringy and bad about this story, but I decided to complete this book since I got a lot of comments disappointed it was never finished. Eric didn't choose or really want to be gay, it just kind of happen- something that just happened, he can't even remember how he found out he was gay all he knew was that he was, And it wasn't like there's nothing wrong with that. Eric wasn't homophobic, he didn't feel disgusted in himself but rather disappointed.
