"Yo," a voice said, amused. "Underdog's back."

Mi-Young didn't turn. She didn't need to. In places like this, if you turned every time someone spoke, you'd never stop spinning.

She just lifted her chin slightly and kept her eyes on the ring while the crew wiped the mat with a mop that smelled like bleach and regret.

Underdog.

She hated the name.

It had started as a joke-some drunk promoter calling her "tiny" and "cute" the first night she showed up. Someone else had barked out, "Yeah? Bet she bites." The crowd had laughed, and then she'd won, and then she'd won again, and the name stuck like blood under nails.

Underdog. Minnie. Little joke fighter.

Little cash cow.

She tugged the end of her wrap with her teeth and tied it off, jaw tense. Her ribs ached when she breathed too deep, a bruise blooming under her skin like ink.

She shouldn't have been here tonight.
