Romanticizing My Life

Alexis Vance, a fifteen-year-old African-American girl, runs away from her toxic mother who has been beating her and manipulating her since her father's death a couple of years prior. She runs away to a prestigious private school in New York, where she worked hard to get a scholarship and applied without her mother's knowledge. Now, her mother is trying to track her down, she's trying to make a prequel to her late father's book and she meets her academic rival who won't let her enjoy life.
