Evan Parker, a green FBI agent at the bottom of the pecking order is assigned a murder investigation. Strung out on travel and unable to get his life in order he rolls into town with nothing but preconceived notions. That's when he meets the rough, seasoned town sheriff, Bryce Moyer.

Evan's attraction to Bryce is immediate. His fear of small-town perceptions on the other hand overtakes any ability he might have to voice this attraction. For both of them, the job comes first.

This is a short story I submitted for a contest, which I didn't win. But, that being said, I wanted to get a sense of whether or not anyone else would be interested in my work. It's for the first piece I have ever put out for public consumption.
