Evan Parker, a green FBI agent at the bottom of the pecking order is assigned a murder investigation. Strung out on travel and unable to get his life in order he rolls into town with nothing but preconceived notions. That's when he meets the rough, seasoned town sheriff, Bryce Moyer.
Evan's attraction to Bryce is immediate. His fear of small-town perceptions on the other hand overtakes any ability he might have to voice this attraction. For both of them, the job comes first.
This is a short story I submitted for a contest, which I didn't win. But, that being said, I wanted to get a sense of whether or not anyone else would be interested in my work. It's for the first piece I have ever put out for public consumption.

She threw herself out a window and left her neighbor Jane to unravel their town's darkest secrets. Following Natalie's instructions leads Jane to three other high school students who all have something to hide. The four of them must carry out Natalie's final errand while solving the mysteries written in her diary. But the secrets they unearth may be far more dangerous than what they ever imagined.
