The Waterstone, an ancient relic that allowed the Water-Cats to communicate over long distances, is cracked. This wouldn't be such a big deal, but the powers of the Water-Cats heavily rely on the Waterstone, and if the Waterstone continues cracking, the Water-Cats won't be able to breathe underwater! If Water-Cats can't breathe underwater, then what are they? 

Lakepaw and her littermates, Pebblepaw, Drownpaw, and Frostpaw are special. They were born just as the Waterstone broke, and they can breathe on land as well as in the water. A prophecy from a long time ago told of cats just like these. Now it's up to Lakepaw, Pebblepaw, Drownpaw, and Frostpaw to find out what happened to the Waterstone, and fix it.
