Elaina Mitchell, known as Amarillo to her fellow naval soldiers, is the only child of Pete "Maverick" Mitchell, a female naval aviator, and one of the best Top Gun graduates to walk the planet. When drawn from her squadron to participate in the training of a mission her father plans to teach, Elaina finds herself falling in love with her childhood best friend, Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw. Despite her father's wishes, Elaina makes it onto the final list composed for the mission after proving her ability to fly low-altitude missions and pull higher G forces without blacking out.
