Cipher: Zero' Nine

The secret organization Cardinal brutally murders Nine's parents in an attempt to bind her to them because she has the potential to be the next 'Shadow' to inherit the clan's lost Temptress of Night. They believed that having parents was pointless because it would only make her vulnerable, but that their death might awaken her cruelty.

When she retreated after suffering severe injuries, Cardinal decided it was time to abandon her, believing that her presence was only an impediment to their plans.
