Upon the blurred line of morality and at the mercy of circumstance, two souls meet. Again. And again. And again. So, is it simply a coincidence or something more?
When a young Mariel leaves home, she is instructed to lead a quiet, ignoble life. Forever. And so, determined to remain overlooked, she toils endlessly, disguised as all things plain. But they say still waters run deep, and even the ordinary are not who they appear to be...
So, what would it take for those waters to ripple?
Enter the raucous and free Axtapor, a nobleman turned pirate. Dashing through life like a tempest, he is resolved to live on his own terms, allowing none to stand in his way. But a pirate's curse is a pair of wandering eyes, a boundless appetite for more, and a fascination with the unknown.
Waters disturbed, the two upend one another's lives with misunderstanding hands and misguided compassion. The balances of fate tip dangerously and they quickly find themselves pitted against the same foe: time. The world's watchful eyes fall upon them as night coats the skies and something unexpectedly new begins to emerge.
Hope.
Little do they know just how dangerous something like that can be.

Ashlin Crest is not the chosen one-her twin sister Odella is. Blessed by the gods, Odella sets out on a quest to slay a vile beast. The world's continued peace relies on her success.
Except she doesn't succeed. She returns home without completing her mission, a broken shell of the girl she once was. The world still needs saving, though, and when a descendant of the gods appears in Ash's tiny village with an offer, she follows him. To help the world, and to save her sister.
But Ash isn't touched by the gods. She wasn't chosen, and there is more darkness in the world than she ever knew.
Those she should be able to trust become enemies, and everything she knew about Sominox and its gods begins to fracture. Only with the help of friends from the unlikeliest of places can she hope to succeed in this quest.
As it turns out, though someone unchosen may be exactly what the world needs to save it.
