I was 10 when my Mother sat me down for a talk.
"Milo, I know you like him..." She paused, as if trying to pick her words right, "but he doesn't like boys like that. He likes girls."
Flushed and feeling caught out, I avoid her eyes. I didn't realise it was so obvious.
She gives me a sympathetic but firm smile. "So don't make him feel uncomfortable and ruin your older brothers friendship with him, okay?"

"I don't mean any harm. Just saw you rummaging around in here and figured I'd say 'hi'." Milo slowly lowered his gun. This guy sounded like an idiot, sure, but a harmless idiot. "The hell do you mean 'say hi'?" Milo asked gruffly as he tucked the gun back into his belt. "This isn't exactly a 'say hi' kinda town. You only talk if you want something." The mysterious figure let out a hearty chuckle, making Milo instinctively reach for his gun again. "You're quite the hostile little guy, aren't you?"
