By the time freshman year came by he was so emotionally damaged he didn't talk. Due to this he'd face bullying worsening his mental condition. Although his life would brighten when a ghoul from Japan who fled the country along with her parents seeking sanctuary in the US came to his school.

Yasha Natsumi is living in japan around all the ghoul attacks but she became an investigator to pay back a certain investigator for saving her but she has a power to know what will happen and when and can hear things most people cant. She brushed it off at as just being lucky. On top of that she can heal fast despite low RC levels but has constant injuries and memories that haunt her more than she can handle.
