When Elena's brother Jeremy was born and arrived home from the hospital Elena's parents were shocked to see Jenna holding a baby girl. Jenna explained how the baby was left on the doorstep with a letter saying she needed protection and her biological parents couldn't keep her safe. From that day Grayson and Miranda Gilbert adopted the baby girl and said that Aria is Jeremy's twin sister.
