Saved Right Before The End

What if Steve caught Bucky right before he would fall?
"Hang on!"

He reaches his hand out as far as he possibly can, his arms hurting from stretching them too far apart.

"Grab my hand!"

The metal starts breaking apart and it's extremely close to falling off.

"No!"

Bucky reaches out, their fingers barely touching.

The metal breaks off.

Steve barely catches him but is holding onto him just enough to pull him further up and back into the train.

They both stand away from the big hole in the side of the train to avoid any other possible too close accidents.
