    Izuku met shoto Todoroki through a hero in training penpal assignment in first year of UA he getting in to UA America and Shoto Todoroki was in UA Japan. the assignment connected to other UA schools accross the world its entire purpose was to make allies with fellow hero's in different countries. he was hoping to be paired with dynamite who he knew was his childhood friend katsuki bakugo who he lost touch with after moving to America when his mom died in a villian attack days after he graduated elementary school. so, he was sent to live with his dad. he was disappointed he didn't get his friend Kacchan but was curious on shoto Todoroki after seeing him win the UA festival so it wasn't all disappointing and it was quite an enjoyable assignment that even after it was over they kept incontact through emails mostly due to time difference but they did have occasional texting and physical phone calls on weekends when they weren't busy. after two years in UA, izuku was qualified for a student exchange program and out of all UA school. he choose UA Japan to meet Todoroki and see Kacchan again. although he withheld this information from Todoroki to surprise him being he developed feeling towards Todoroki yet still held lingering crush like feeling for Katsuki he developed as a child and never went away and he still no idea how to go about them. He no idea of Todoroki gender preference or his sexual orientation  and he knew katsuki would never accept his feelings since their friendship was long over. Sexual orientation wasn't something he discussed freely  since many citizens and several other judgmental hero's were against gay hero's it was kept don't ask didn't tell situation to protect the hero reputation and job that could be ruined by it.All Rights Reserved
