19 year old Evelyn Harris is a world class eventer, and a well known one at that. Building up her career from a young age. It's been stressful, for both her and her family, but she wouldn't give it up for the world. Eve definitely never expected it to come to an end so suddenly.
After an accident in the ring her parents decide that some time away might be good for both her horse, Tempest and her. So against her protests she's sent to live in an old family home in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere. So far she's not impressed. The only thing this place has going for it are the creepy stories the locals seem to love to tell about monsters in the woods surrounding the town. Little does she know just how true they are.
Sylvyrn is a demon hunter. And one of the best at that. However he has a reputation for rule breaking, that often leads him to be the topic of gossip for other members of the group he belongs to, The Order of the Dark Eye, more commonly known as simply "The Order".
Syl is fighting a war that has gone back generations, and cost the lives of everyone who was once close to him.
When Syl lets one demon get a little too close to town, Eve is suddenly sucked into his world of magic and conspiracy. She doesn't trust him at all at first. But it's soon clear that exactly what this order needs, is someone who can see through the years of pain and loss. Someone from the outside. And just maybe, Sylvyrn and Evelyn can put an end to this, together.
