There are a lot of things you don't really think about until they happen to you. Take rape, for instance. I always thought, "That won't happen to me. I have a boyfriend. I trust him. He would never take advantage of me like that..." I couldn't have been more wrong. Love in this day and age is often confused for manipulation and abuse. The warning signs are here. The things we say will tell us everything that is wrong. You are worth more than what you think you are. It's not your fault. If they tell you otherwise, get out. Burn the bridge. Always remember someone is waiting for you to walk into their life. Someone needs you. Someone loves you. Getting away from all of the wrong people and finding the right ones could save you. I can promise you right now that it saved me. These are the journal entries and selected poems from my first experience of love that left a unpleasant taste in my mouth- quite literally. I am putting this out for the whole world to see because I hope everyone will learn from my experience. People can see. We have no excuses to continue living our lives in ignorance. ...WARNING... Is it better to live in a beautiful lie or the ugly truth? I'm not so sure anymore. Not now after finding myself on the other side of beautiful lies. There was a time I thought I was the one - HIS one. Turns out, I'm only second . . . . . . to her. For readers: *I will update as I please. Don't be rude about it. Ours was a love that unraveled before it could be woven, a story written in ink that would never dry. Ephemeral, haunting, and destined to fade before it could truly begin. We were never meant to share the same path. He was a star burning far beyond my reach, and I was the earthbound dreamer who watched him glow. Yet, by some unseen force-fate, chance, or something crueler-our worlds intertwined for a fleeting moment. From the instant I saw him, I felt the pull, the quiet inevitability of him. Esme Things can become clear in a second. When I found Tanner in his office with that woman, so many things became obvious. Tanner's always held himself back from me, but now, secrets and lies come tumbling out into the light. He's never loved me and he never will. I'm no longer willing to be a placeholder in his life, and I have to end our marriage. Tanner I'd been married for four years to someone I didn't believe I loved because I thought I still loved another woman. A woman I had to give up when I chose to marry my wife after I got her pregnant. Now, the other woman's back, she's divorced and is telling me it's our time to be together. Just as soon as I divorce my wife, who's pregnant with our second child. The allure of the past was impossible to resist, so I gave in, met her at my office and my wife found us just...after. So many things became clear to me even before I looked into my wife's devastated eyes. What had I done? I knew what I'd done, and now I had to prove to my wife that she's the one I want.

**Alone and hopeless... Is that everything there is to me? Do I not deserve the prospect of a change? A change for good.** Those were thoughts that went through my mind when he crushed my body with unnatural strength against the tree. I felt the taste of blood on my tongue. My surroundings started to get blurry. My head was throbbing. I began to feel drowsy. But there was one thought that gave me conscious, spinning through my head like a tedious fly keeping me from rest. **I deserve a change.**
