After getting shot while on the field, workaholic Spencer Reid tries to get back to working at the BAU earlier than recommended. However, without full clearance to be back on the field, he has two options. Stay at home bored for another month wallowing in self pity, or accept a security detail position for star on the rise Ruby Jewel. 

Ruby Jewel, known to her friends and family as Clarissa Ruby Jenkins, landed her first starring role in a blockbuster filming in Los Angeles. But, just days before she's set to land in LA and start filming, her long time security personnel, Dave, breaks his leg in a marathon accident. Ruby's manager, Jenna, doesn't want her to go without security after the last stalking incident while she was on Broadway, so she sends out a request to her old friend Aaron Hotchner to see if he has any connections for a temporary security detail.
