This is the story of the Vice-Captain of the Immortal Blades, Rita Rosseweiss, and how she struggles to protect the person closest to her. 
With the world coming to an end and the Honkai revealing a never before seen side of them, Rita is faced with difficult choices as her forces dwindle with each passing day, gripped by an unknown sickness that eats away at them, and no one to answer their plea for help.

The action takes place approximately two years before the events in "Chronicle of Burden" during the early days of the invasion when Shickshal falls to the Herrscher of the End's unexpected arrival.
