The world has changed. It is now run by people who believe that every human must find love and if they don't, they're banished outside the city walls where there is nothing.
Each human has one chance at the age of sixteen to fall in love with the person they are paired with in six weeks or they will be left to die in emptiness.
Sixteen year old Scarlett understands this and she is willing to put everything on the line so that she can survive by falling in love with her match, and he with her.
One problem, he doesn't believe love exists.
