Christian Ryder may be Hollywood's newest Golden Boy, but to Sophia Hastings, he's a reminder that you can't outrun your past, especially if you're the kid who used to walk the mile in high school.

Eighteen-year-old Sophia has had big screen dreams ever since she can remember. Too bad her only taste of fame involved a tree costume, buffalo wings, and a submission to America's Funniest Home videos a decade ago. That all changes when a lucky break lands her in Hollywood, with none other than Christian Ryder at her side.

A heartthrob whose acting career skyrocketed faster than even he could keep up with, Christian has it all: the fame, the fortune, and the girls. He would gladly tell anyone who was willing to listen all about the girls. Too bad the only one who actually matters would sooner jump off of a cliff than jump into bed with him.

Sophia is determined not to let her new leading man get to her. Christian has never been afraid of a challenge. But this one has a catch. This challenge could destroy much more than just his ego.

"Her troubled eyes held fire. The kind of fire that was capable of burning me to ash." ***** I grabbed her chin with my free hand, making her look at me. "I hate that I don't know you. I hate not being a part of your life, like I was before." I leaned a little closer, as her intoxicating scent filled my lungs. "Trust me, I can't hate you, no matter how hard I tried." "So you have... " It came out as more of a question than a statement from her as she looked at me with her big blue eyes. "What?" I frowned, dropping my hand from her chin and grabbing her hand, instead. "You have tried hating me then?" She asked, tilting her head to the side. This time it sounded more like a statement than a question. "I have." I sighed, dropping my head in shame. "And it made me lose the most important person in my life." ***** One night. What harm can one night do? It can change lives. Turn best friends into enemies. Turn someone's life upside down. Emily Waters and Ryder Green, were inseparable, joint to the hip, always had each others back and loved each other behind the best friend facade. But one night changed it all. He thinks he has changed for worse but what he doesn't know is that Emily has changed for the worst. Three years later, what if the girl is back, with baggage that she doesn't think anyone could handle? What will happen when they meet? Will the sparks ignite again? Gemma has many theories on life, but being better off alone is her biggest one. That is, until it's being questioned by a boy from her past. ••• I smirk at Larkin, but he only flicks an eyebrow up at me in challenge. Damn it, why is he so confident? I can barely even look at him without my stomach turning and my mind flashing back to the wedding reception. #55 in ChickLit (2 November 2018) *** {Story is original.
