"You know what they say about playing with fire?" I taunt him. He looks at me while his lips form the most sinful grin I've ever witnessed. "By all means, blaze away." - Freya has seen more horrific things than most in her short lifetime. Even at 21, working in service as a maid in an esteemed household in the year 1910, her thoughts are still continuously plagued by her past. Magic is a banned word from her vocabulary. She knows more than anyone that it does not exist. However her new home on the Isle of Skye hides more than meets the eyes, and she has no choice but to entertain the impossible. As secrets unravel while she tries to understand what is happening to her, she has to turn to an unlikely ally for help. Nathaniel is the infuriating valet with a carefree attitude who everyone warns her to stay away from. A serious magnet for trouble with a past she believes might be more similar to hers than she is willing to acknowledge. Freya was determined to keep him at arm's length, however, he has a strange addiction to her fiery temper, and is hell bent on keeping her close. While navigating this new unusual dynamic, she finds herself juggling her new duties and new loyalties as what she discovers threatens everything she thought she knew about the world. Turns out she might not be as alone as she believed. What happens when magic finds itself in a world where it does not belong? Well, whatever the answers lay for her to find, she is not cowering away this time. This is the time to find herself. This, is finding Freya.
