"You know what they say about playing with fire?" I taunt him.

He looks at me while his lips form the most sinful grin I've ever witnessed.

"By all means, blaze away."

-

Freya has seen more horrific things than most in her short lifetime. Even at 21, working in service as a maid in an esteemed household in the year 1910, her thoughts are still continuously plagued by her past.

Magic is a banned word from her vocabulary. She knows more than anyone that it does not exist. However her new home on the Isle of Skye hides more than meets the eyes, and she has no choice but to entertain the impossible. As secrets unravel while she tries to understand what is happening to her, she has to turn to an unlikely ally for help.

Nathaniel is the infuriating valet with a carefree attitude who everyone warns her to stay away from. A serious magnet for trouble with a past she believes might be more similar to hers than she is willing to acknowledge. Freya was determined to keep him at arm's length, however, he has a strange addiction to her fiery temper, and is hell bent on keeping her close.

While navigating this new unusual dynamic, she finds herself juggling her new duties and new loyalties as what she discovers threatens everything she thought she knew about the world. Turns out she might not be as alone as she believed.

What happens when magic finds itself in a world where it does not belong? Well, whatever the answers lay for her to find, she is not cowering away this time. This is the time to find herself. This, is finding Freya.

A/n : This is a slow-burn, fantasy intrigue, enemies to lovers trope. Your patience will be rewarded ;) There will be a book 2!

A Crimson Dance Of Vengeance by DHKwriting
16 parts Ongoing Mature
Neah has always been the protector, fearless and fierce, venturing out into the dangerous, vampire-infested world to provide for her younger sister, Yuna. After their parents' death, Neah took on the role of her guardian, doing whatever it takes to survive in a world where humans are prey. Growing up, her father would tell her stories of the fae, demons, witches, sirens, and other magical creatures that roamed the land, but Neah is just human. Despite that, she faces the darkness with relentless courage. Yuna dreams of seeing the sunset, but Neah knows better. The outside world is no place for the innocent, with vampires lurking in the shadows, waiting for their next hunt. On her birthday, Yuna defies Neah's warnings and sneaks out to witness the sunset for herself. When Neah finds her, it's too late... Yuna is brutally attacked and left in a horrific state. In her desperate attempt to save her sister, Neah fights viciously but is overpowered and captured, forced into slavery. Even in the depths of despair, Neah refuses to break. Her fierce will reignites when she encounters a mysterious Lord, one who is not quite vampire, not quite demon, but something in between. He has a taste for striking deals, and he offers Neah one: he will help her find the two vampires responsible for Yuna's death, but at a cost. As Neah hunts for revenge, strange memories begin to surface, memories that don't quite feel like her own, fragments of a past that doesn't seem to fit. Her friends rally around her, helping her uncover the truth behind who she really is, and why some of her memories might be fabricated. Determined and filled with rage, Neah embarks on a dangerous path of vengeance. Armed with her new allies, the mysterious Lord's bargain, and her passion for dance, she will make her enemies pay. And when she finds them, they'll dance to her deadly rhythm.
Morana, the Witch of Life by High_Priestess_Elena
101 parts Complete Mature
Morana knows she's different from other people in more ways than one. Firstly, she's sixty-seven years old but stopped ageing in her twenties. Weird things have also happened around her right after she's wished for it. But most importantly, no matter how she acts, people feel uncomfortable around her. Unfortunately, she has no way of finding out why all of this is since she was abandoned as a baby. A shocking event makes her cross paths with Alejo, a male witch who has issues trusting other witches. But when it comes to Morana, he feels comfortable and at ease, as well as attracted to her. They are, however, not mates, and as such, he knows that any romantic relationship between them is doomed to fail. To not risk losing her, he therefore does all he can to fight his own feelings. [Can be read without having read volume one and two] ---------- Mature rating due to: smut, violence (magical mainly, but some that's rather bloody), death, attempted rape (happens in chapter 42 and will be mentions of it afterwards, fairly none-descriptive, focus is on emotions, there will NOT be a trigger warning at the beginning of the specific chapter), abuse both physically and verbally - mention of past child abuse. There is no self-harm, however, there are certain aspects that might still be triggering in that regard. If you ever have any questions about the content and potential triggers, feel free to reach out to me. I'm more than happy to specify more if need be. ---------- This series will contain the following volumes: Volume 1 - Zoe, the witch of innocence (completed) Volume 2 - Crimson, the witch of night (completed) Volume 3 - Morana, the witch of life (completed) Volume 4 - Mirai, the witch of sight (completed) Volume 5 - Danae, the witch of light (ongoing) Volume 6 - Rheseis, the faerie of love

Niccola is a demi-queen undercover in enemy territory. Her little sister went missing seven moons ago, but one lead remains: a picture of a woman's face, drawn by a diviner shortly after the disappearance. Tracking her down has led Niccola to Calis, the realm next door whose border with her own remains closed for a reason. There, the trail goes cold. Until, that is, Niccola runs into a man in the marketplace who bears a family resemblance to the woman she seeks. His name is Isaiah, crown prince of Calis, and he's investigating disappearances, too. They join forces, faking courtship to sneak Niccola into the palace and get Isaiah's wedding-minded mother off his back. It doesn't take long to suspect that a common threat might underpin both their realms' problems. And as Niccola begins to develop real feelings for Isaiah, she's faced with an impossible choice: reveal her secrets and risk breaking his trust, or leave him in order to chase down the woman who stole her sister... a woman whose forbidden magic comes with a cost that could bring both realms to ruin. ❖❖❖ Complete and fully edited.
