Mirasol Matapang is a fifteen year old with crippling anxiety who finds herself trapped on a prison island where half the people turn to monsters at night. Santiago Guerrero de Reyes is the only reason Mirasol made it to the island alive, and he's one of the unlucky souls that turns into a monster at night. The two form a bond thanks to their strong will to survive the nightmare they entered together, but they find themselves in different camps on the brink of war. The human camp is preparing to kill all the monsters on the island in exchange for a way home. As much as Mirasol wants to leave, she refuses to do so without Santiago by her side. Mirasol and a few others are against this plan, but open opposition will result in death. Mirasol tries to get information to the monsters to keep them safe, but she's no spy. Her actions are putting her life in danger, and the only way she'll survive is if her allies step up and find another way to escape.

Before the world ended, Zephyris thought fear was just a feeling. Now it's the rhythm of her heartbeat. When a single day shatters the illusion of safety, she and her best friend are thrust into a world collapsing faster than they can understand. What begins as confusion turns to chaos, and survival stops being instinct- it becomes the only thing left. She and her best friend must navigate a reality that demands too much from the young and gives nothing back. In a place where innocence is a luxury, Zephyris learns that sometimes surviving isn't living- it's just the way life goes. Growing up was hard enough before the end of the world. Now it's all that's left to do.
