It's hard to know that the person that you love is in love with someone else, and that is the case for many people in this world. Unrequited love is something that humans have been struggling with since the beginning of time. If you are religious, depending on your religion, you will know that before Eve, Adam had another "wife," Lilith, the first woman and the first demon ever known. Now Lilith loved Adam, but he did not love her, and when God created Eve for Adam, Lilith became furious and turned into the first demon due to her anger. She went to Hell and talked to Lucifer, who allowed her to send a snake, yes, that one, to try to trick Eve into eating the apple from the garden. However, it was not Eve who ate the apple. Even without the snake persuading him, Adam ate the apple and told Eve that if she truly loved him, she would eat it as well. The forbidden fruit was taken, and a punishment was given to God's creation for disobeying his rules.
Now it is even harder to have unrequited love when the person you love has been your best and closest friend for almost your whole life. This is the case for Sage Fuentes, a young woman who has no intention of ever letting her love for her best friend be known. Every time she is around them, she feels her heart slowly breaking, knowing that they love someone else. She has come to the conclusion that it is time to move on, as she knows the most love she can receive from her best friend is that of a sibling. So she is moving across the country from Virginia to Washington State, where her uncle and cousin are living. Her cousin, who has recently been dumped and is in a depressive state, and her uncle, who needs all the help he can get to get his daughter to be present again, before something dangerous happens and he loses her forever.
