Seeking wisdom is something humans have always done through the ages. That desperate need for knowledge is something all humans crave, even the ones who deny it.

It's what brought you to Sumeru, as the daughter of a rich Liyue merchant your family desired nothing more than for you to learn your trade and more in a nation that is known for its wisdom. What you don't expect however is for everything you've ever known within the Akademiya to come crashing down.

Now the scholars that Sumeru once praised are exiled. What was once a seemingly thriving place of knowledge has crumbled down to the ground, only to be now built from the ground up.

In the chaos of order trying to be restored, strange dreams plague you. Every night it's always the same you're always with a man, the two of you are in danger always running. (Who is that man?!)

Unsure how much longer you can take this life style, or the dreams, you prepare to write home and inform your family you'll be returning soon. But just as you're ready to return a threatening note is left for you.

Who wrote it? Why would they be after you? It didn't make sense, but who ever it was didn't want you leaving Sumeru. But no matter where you looked no one had an explanation for the death threat.

In your desperation for knowledge you manage to capture the attention of the Acting Grand Sage who takes this case very seriously.

But the answers you seek may not be as fruitful as you hope. Danger looms in the distance with death behind it. Not all wisdom is good. But maybe what's in store for you is fate. The ultimate knowledge...

(This is an Al-Haitham X Female Reader, some themes in this may be intense to some: mentions of gore, sex, physical abuse, are just a few examples! You have been warned! This takes place a little after the main quest, and does not connect to Al-Haitham's character quest that was just released! I do not own genshin nor its characters, edit of the cover is my own, thank you. Please enjoy Sumeru!)

☆ *•.¸ "𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚 𝐛𝐢𝐠 𝐥𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐨𝐱, 𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧'𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮?" ¸.•* ☆ With an ever-curious mind and an unrelenting personality, Y/N is doing exceptionally well at the Spantamad Darshan in the Akademiya. One day, a certain mishap results in her getting transferred to the Amurta Darshan and being outsourced to Gandharva ville for 'hands on research'. You scoff at this, knowing the Akademiya was just looking for a way to kick you out. But out of all the places to go, why Gandharva Ville?? The Amurta Darshan was by far the most boring one to you. You couldn't care less about some mushrooms or random worms. But to your surprise, you learn that the Amurta can be extremely unforgiving at times, and undergo some of the most life-altering experiences in the forest, even getting dragged into the cruel desert sands at one point. Along the way, you meet a certain sassy yet kind-hearted, fluffy-eared man who teaches you to see the world from a new perspective...and you even catch a few feelings along the way. Maybe Gandharva Ville wasn't so bad after all. ----------- x ------------ Hi everyoneee, this is my fourth fic ehE. ʸᵒᵘ'ʳᵉ ᵗʰᵉ ᵐᵃⁿ Sumeru's Matra: a branch of disciplinary officers who are feared by many students throughout all six Darshans of the Akademiya. As well as this, it's also part of Y/N's current line of work. Despite they position in the Matra, they tend to have a more laid-back attitude towards the job, which has, naturally, resulted in them gaining a reputation amongst students and Matra alike. On one hand, students see them as a blessing from the Dendro Archon. A beacon of hope who will allow them to achieve all sorts of research, despite the academic offenses these may include. This is, of course, not the case, but no scholar has been around long enough to speak poorly of them. On the other hand, many members of the Matra view them as a lazy, careless member of their ranks. Very few Matra have anything positive to say of Y/N, often claiming they tend to just laze around in the Akademiya, refusing to do anything they're requested to do. This very attitude has led to Y/N gaining the attention of the General Mahamatra. However, when confronted about their alleged nature, they simply brush aside the claims, refusing to admit to such actions. ᵇᵘᵗ ⁱ ᵍᵒᵗ ᵗʰᵉ, ⁱ ᵍᵒᵗ ᵗʰᵉ, ⁱ ᵍᵒᵗ ᵗʰᵉ ᵖᵒʷᵉʳ ⚠ I do not own Genshin Impact or the characters - they belong to HoYoverse/Cognosphere. ⚠ Personalities may be slightly off. Teyvat. A mysterious place. But what in the ever loving fuck is happening now? What if two unhinged teenagers decided, to write their own crappy story about this place, new and old characters going through pain, suffering, joy and happiness. Maybe finding love on the way or witnessing a traumatising death. Who knows? Oh, right! We do :) And you will to, all you gotta do is tap the 'read' button. Enjoyy <33 I would like to add, we have a lot planned for this story! For some of you it is a little boring at the beginning but I'd definitely say it's worth reading!! Thus always to tyrants. Bad, but justified, ends always befall tyrants. Alhaitham grew up on the belief that the Akademiya was corrupt, as was the royalty, and Sumeru was doomed to someday fall. But Kaveh wasn't like them. Kaveh was fire burning bright, passion itself, and he was certainly not his father. He wasn't, nor ever would be, a tyrant. Alhaitham would make sure of it. ________ "You detest me," Alhaitham said quietly, breaking the silence. It was hard to finish with that, hard to form the words when there was so much more at hand than just how they may have felt toward each other. After all, they stood in a literal hell, the flames still flickering and smoldering out. The bodies still lay bloody around them. Kaveh stared. Not at him, but at the hill surrounding them. He took it in, everything in its brevity, and let out a slow breath. Then he turned back to Alhaitham with no light behind those ruby eyes, with all the pale coldness of a man he'd once killed. He smiled and repeated, knowing his line by heart. "I detest you the way the sun detests the moon. You cannot have one without the other, but they chase each other away all the same." 𓆩✧︎𓆪 Join us on the Haikaveh Discord (16+): https://discord.gg/hkvh Originally written by Zeferyx on Ao3, posted with permission.
