Since I was a child, I have been told what to do and how to feel. Moreover, I would be in grave trouble if I didn't do what my father asked of me. But my mother was the glue that kept me sane. My parents had five other children, but I was my mother's favorite, while my twin sister was my father's favorite-the apple of his wicked eye. In many ways, I was like my mother; nobody had ever seen me for what I was. In size and look. In my mother's footsteps, I wanted to become a doctor because I have a passion for saving lives, but my father had other plans for me. No one would save me from him now as he sold me like I was nothing. I felt like nothing and all my mom could do was watch as these Italian men forced me out of my home and into a life I never wanted. But I knew if I was going to survive this I needed to be strong like she also told me to do. But here's my story of how my life changed at just 19.
