The High Queen sat on her throne, her back straight and face covered. Her black dress pressed tightly against her skin until her feet, where the floor looked like a pool of void and stars on the ground.
Her long, black hair cascaded down her back in a scandalizing, sort of beautiful, way. She smiled a charming, sharp smile, that her face made room for effortlessly.
And what Queen would be completely without a crown? But her crown was terrifying, the tangled mass of black thorns that it was. It rested on her head in a way that looked uncomfortable, like it would dig into her head, but it did not seem to bother the Queen.
She was beautiful. She was terrifying.
