Zella Holbrook was just an ordinary girl living in North Carolina who wanted nothing more than to have a normal life. This all changes when she starts to have strange nightmares of being drowned in a room with no way out, and a strange alluring doorway haunts her dreams and draws her near its mysterious entrance. To top it off, a brown striped cat with orange glowing eyes seems to be following her every move. In this new world of Claria, both witches and elementals coincide with one another under the ruling of their king. Elementals are treated as the Knights of this world, next follow the witches, and then follow the Tainted Elementals. When Zel enters this new world she's greeted by many who both want to help and kill her. As she begins to harness her new powers an evil lurks in the shadows that threatens everyone. Will Zel and her new friends be able to assist the king in defeating this darkness before it overthrows him and the people?

Liora Clementine Crawford is not the quiet new girl. She's got wildfire hair, sharp blue eyes, and a voice like golden hour - loud, warm, and a little too honest. She paints on everything she owns, makes mixtapes like spells, and has no patience for the stares of small-town boys. When her mother - a chaotic artist - drags the family to Forks chasing "inspiration," and her mystery-writer father sets up shop to write his next novel, Liora figures she'll survive senior year the same way she always does: laughing too loud and pretending not to care. Then she meets Edward Cullen. Cold. Quiet. Perfect in the way Greek statues are perfect - carved, haunted, untouchable. He looks at her like she's a problem he can't solve. Like he's afraid to breathe too close. And for good reason. Because Edward Cullen - monster, mind-reader, forever seventeen - just met his mate. And she's not soft-spoken or submissive or safe. She's sunlight. All color and noise and soul. And he has no idea how to handle a girl made of fire when all he's ever known is shadow. She doesn't fall for him immediately. She calls him out. She jokes. She paints him without asking. And every time he tries to read her mind, all he hears is music and color and light. Liora isn't afraid of monsters. But Edward's afraid of her. Because fate gave him exactly what he needed. And now he has to become someone who deserves her.
