Claudia Brown is content with her life.
Her engagement didn't turn out, and she has no children, but that's alright. She has her career as a civil servant, and she's proud of it.
But then her world turns inside-out when she gets sent to the Forest of Dean to investigate a rogue animal sighting she's sure is all nonsense, and what was supposed to be a routine consultant meeting with a certain professor draws her into a world of chaos.
"This is Claudia Brown from the Home Office. She'll be coming with us."
And that's what she does. Into the past and future, into paradise and hell.
