Sadie is the goody two shoes, A+ in everything, and a family life everyone wishes they had. But underneath it all she is hiding an anxiety disorder. She is afraid that someone will see that she isn't as put together as she appears. This leads to unhealthy ways of coping while juggling college. Finding out that Adam Darnley is who she is being paid to tutor excites her in a way she didn't know she could feel. But he doesn't even realize who she is...
Adam is a social outcast, his parents have given up trying to understand him. He starts college not on the best terms. Adam finds destructive ways to numb his thoughts and feelings. His parents hire Sadie to tutor him. His parents are giving him one last chance to figure things out or they are cutting him off financially. Sadie is also his childhood friend that he distanced himself from for good reason. He's jealous of all she is but also doesn't want to taint her perfection. He tries to act like he doesn't remember her and she is annoyingly insistent on reminding him.
These two lost souls start to crack open their issues all while feelings begin to grow. Will it be for the best? Or make things worse?
