The Tree of Life's 12 guardians are scattered in the 12 universes. Each with different lives and stories. Thus, the Red Force travels in each of those different universes and tries to capture them. They have failed in 11 universes which resulted in all those from all 11 universe's 12 guardians remembering their past and returning to nurture the Tree of Life. Now they all wait for their Dawn to return- Chen.

The Guardians are a group of unique people, and creatures, that help protect the children of the world. Alright so I know it sounds just like any other "big five" story you have ever read...but I promise it is so much more than that. Jack is a guardian, Elsa can control her powers, Merida and her mother have healed their bond, Rapunzel has healing hair and hasn't met Eugene (yet), and Hiccup isn't gorgeous (yet). After the ordeal with Pitch, Jack learns that 3 other spirits exist, one that was killed in a heroic sacrifice, another was killed on accident, and the last was killed by a madman. Their names are Hiccup, Rapunzel, and Merida. These 3 individuals had their own issues to deal with. And it's up to Jack to teach them, or at least try to.
