On her 17th birthday, both of Hope's parents die and she is forced to live with her older brother, George, and his horrible snobby wife, Dana. Just when Hope thinks things can't get any worse, they do. Dana dies and George develops two horrible habits: gambling and drinking. Soon enough, they become poor because George spends all his money on drink and Hope becomes desperate. They have no money and she is trying to save money for school and college, until she meets Logan.
