The apocalypse of '22 is long over by 2033, but the effects have never been felt more. Especially by 16-year-old Mara and her grandmother Kai, when a mysterious boy shows up at their doorstep after years of serenity and seclusion. Bloody, uninjured, and confused, he ruins all their semblance of routine, no matter how unorthodox. Mara and Kai have never been one for strangers, especially ones that eat their weight in food and leave wet towels all over the place. That is until Mara takes a strange liking to the boy. But how could one possibly feel love in a world of the dead, war, anger, and grief?
