The ancients warned of the Palevial curse, every 100 years a group must represent the kingdom and face challenges called the games that are rumoured to take place deep beneath the royals palace. The problem? no one believes such a thing exists anymore. Now the kingdom is in danger of releasing a long locked up force as a consequence if the games are not completed in time.

Aravis Brightgale's family owns the southern textile market, and when a her father commits an unforgivable act, there is only one way the royal family will forgive him, by marrying Aravis to the heir of the Kathalan throne. Seeking to gain power over the lower south, the royal family refuses to take into consideration how the heir might feel about this arrangement. Little do they know she is already occupied, having cracked the ancients message she now needs to build a team fit to save the kingdom, and perhaps the entire world.
