It was an accident, really. Instincts kicking in, fear taking over. The fight between Caleb and Philip ends not quite how the former thought it would, Philip is dead. Wracked with guilt, Caleb tries to move on past the slaying but can't get the image of his baby brother's body out of his head. The good thing is, Evelyn knows of an ancient way to bring someone back from the dead.
This is an AU where Caleb kills Philip in defense and feels immense guilt over his actions. Evelyn suggests they could make a Grimwalker of Philip, which they do, and they end up raising him.
