Nothing is as it seems.

That's one thing 17 year-old Marie Blaine learns while staying with her aunt and uncle over the summer in Leavenworth, Washington; and a crow heralding a warning of death was only the beginning.

Ever since the first wolf pack was documented in Washington in 2008, the population has had opposing opinions on how to handle them. The people of Leavenworth are no different; especially when the local Teanaway wolf pack shifts its territory closer to town.

After fighting with her aunt however, Marie pushes that fact aside and goes out into the Okanogan-Wenatchee forest. Alone.

That was her first mistake.

Her second, was thinking that everything would go back to normal after she witnesses something that no on was supposed to- something that people are willing to kill for to make her forget. No, that was only the beginning of what was to come.
