Like any good story, this one starts with a funeral.

Chris's girlfriend, Mindy Forino, went missing six years ago.

Well, maybe "went missing" isn't the best way of phrasing it. She ran away. Just as her relationship with Chris was finally getting to blossom in the way they'd both always wanted it to. After an unexpected and ugly tragedy, Mindy left a letter that very vaguely explained that she "had to leave," and that was that. No one knew where she was, or if she was even alive, for six years. There were rumors as to why she left, mostly having to do with the fact that her last boyfriend before Chris had wound up dead in a ditch, but Chris knew Mindy, and knew that there had to be some other reason as to why she'd left. He just wished that she could have told him, and that he could have helped her.

So imagine Chris's surprise when, after all those years of being bitter at Mindy's disappearance, she shows up back in town for her father's funeral - and she isn't alone, walking into the funeral with a little girl at her side. Now it would seem that Mindy would be back in town permanently, taking over the bookstore her father had run when he was alive. It doesn't take long for Chris to remember just how in love with her he was when she disappeared, and he soon makes it his mission to find out why she'd left, why she was still being so secretive, and if the two of them would ever be able to find love with each other again.All Rights Reserved

However, demons of McKayla's past soon return to haunt her, and they end up affecting her friends and the ones that she loves. All of this while she finds herself catching feelings for Chris; and he, her. McKayla begins to wonder if running away from her problems is the best solution, even if it means leaving the one she loves behind. So having Chris around more often is wonderful for Sadie; mostly because Chris is very understanding of her and incredibly open-minded. Sadie is just a bit...different, and Chris is the perfect example for her to show that being different is an okay and good thing. When tragedy strikes, Chris is immediately there for Melanie and Sadie and instantly knows how to comfort them. With being so close to Melanie this often now, Chris begins to realize that maybe, after all these years, he might have been looking at her the wrong way, and feelings may be starting to develop. However, it's time for the band to reunite and enter the touring world again, and Chris is finally ready to put the past behind him. However, there is still one small problem that he needs to address before leaving for tour again: the issue of what to do with his five year old daughter, Nova. Enter Sariah Wilkinson. Deciding that she was the perfect fit to be the nanny for his daughter, Chris is perfectly content with Sariah and is ready to leave for tour again. Chris and Sariah get along great, and Nova quickly forms a bond with Sariah that is incredibly helpful while Chris is gone. However, Chris and Sariah's bond soon grows much deeper. Due to the protests, Motionless in White began receiving letters from Paul's daughter, Eve, apologizing for her father's hateful acts. With each letter received, the band - and Chris in particular - grow to admire Eve for her willingness to step out beyond her father's teachings and show some humanity. After years of receiving her letters but never seeing her in person, Chris finally meets her by chance one day. A small, timid, conservatively dressed woman, living a lie to please her father. Chris had heard rumors of Paul Lawrence's life, one of them being that he beat his daughter, but Chris wasn't sure if that was true upon meeting Eve. The only thing he did know was that he was surely falling in love with her, and would do anything in his power to be with her and take her away from the awful fate that lay before her...
