Astra Davies is just like any other wizard in London. Well, not EXACTLY like the others, but close enough. She's an empath wizard; she can't do magic on her own; she has to siphon either her own feelings or the feelings of those around her and then she can turn those feelings into magic.
She tries not to siphon the feelings of those around her because well, stealing other people's emotions for her own gain isn't right. That's what her adoptive parents always told her.
They taught her a lot of things, except who her biological parents are. Astra had only asked a dozen times and on the twelfth time, after getting the same answer, she stopped asking. Astra loves her adoptive parents, she was just curious about her history.
One day when Astra goes to meet a local magic zoologist, she realizes this man and his brother may have the answers to her family history she's been looking for. Or maybe they don't; either way they're connected to her family history somehow and Astra's going to find out.
