Humanity has not yet grasped the true meaning of life; what their purpose in this universe is. Honestly, even the eldest of my kind fully don't understand why they were brought into being.
Our species know why were alive; our purpose is to play the role of Him, but each family is given a certain aspect of life we govern and conduct on Sanctus Peccatores, otherwise known as Earth. There are of course minor and major aspects, and the more prominent in a human's life are regarded with social ranking. Our system is a monarchy, usually the two most important of aspects in Earth mate together to become the next in line for the Crown; Life, and Death. Only the eldest child possesses the Aspect they rule, the younger ones don't.
We have soul mates though, but most are never found. Only two Angels have rejected their mates though; my parents. They married for peace between Life and Death

Essence... spirit... that which gives meaning to life. It isn't the soul which is necessary for life. Even when a mortal has a soul, without essence... the mortal becomes an empty shell existing for nothing. Our father, he created us pure and perfect. He doesn't want us to soil our bodies and so he never gave us body parts for procreation. When we rebelled against him because we wanted to have relationships with our own kind, he had no choice but to allow. But with his decision, we are no longer perfect... but we are still pure. Is it because we were jealous of his other creation that we wished to love and procreate? No that's not the only reason. Perfection can be achieve through completeness. Right now we are like mannequins. I thought that this was the only problem amongst our brethren. Then, some of us requested our father about experiencing rebirth so that they can change erase the accumulated memories from specific essences collected from mortals. A happy childhood, a so-so adolescence. Then adulthood arrived, and everything went to hell. And by everything, I mean it. Grown-up life is truly a wonderful, dazzling adventure! A job that drains your soul, stripping away any will to live while fueling a more or less justified homicidal instinct; depression knocking at the door with a lovely bouquet of red roses; and, last but not least, the remnants of a social life buried somewhere under my shoes. Not the ones I'm wearing now; those are slippers, big difference. I mean the other ones. The ones in the cabinet that I haven't touched in five years. Love can be destructive. The Order
