Layla is an 18 year old girl who spent her childhood in South Carolina in a small city, Powdersville. She didn't have an exciting and adventurous childhood, but a boring and an "ordinary" one. She always hoped for a better and brighter future for her, but it always turned out mundane. When she turned 18 she had given up hope already. Until she goes to New York city, to study art. There she meets Era and they become inseparable. Layla is focused on her studies, but Era has other plans. So does Layla's neighbor, Alexander. This story is short and simple. Is related to friendships, forgiveness, actions and true love. ¡! If sometimes, when you swipe a page, it doesn't makes at all sense what I'm writing, it must be because the pages aren't working that well. So it might be the best to turn it into "scrolling" mode, than "pages" !¡ *I'm from a foreign country so I don't know very good English, so don't judge me please. I have made enough mistakes, especially with the grammar and my vocabulary isn't that good. But, I really want to write a book, or a small story. As simple as it might turn out. But it will be a story, still. Thanks to everyone that spent a little of their time to read this story <333 * (Cover by me)

"You ungrateful bitch. I keep a roof over your head, and this is the thanks I get?" "You could have killed her," I retort, trying to muster up confidence that I don't possess. "What if she goes to the cops, Dad? That bruise on her face is enough to get you arrested and charged with assault." "What? You mean when she tripped over the mess you made in the kitchen?" His smile is so wicked that it chills me to my core. "She ain't going to the cops. Hell, she'll probably be back here tomorrow." "You're a bastard," I whisper, tears filling my eyes. "No wonder Mom left! She probably couldn't bear to spend another second with-" I'm pushed to the floor. I scramble backwards as he approaches me, his cheeks scarlet with rage, his pupils the size of needle points. In fourteen years, I've never seen him this mad. I've really done it this time. -------------------- (COMPLETED) Life is hard when nowhere feels like home. For Layla Dodds, there is only one goal: survival.
