Our Borrowed Energy

"Pe'ya." Neteyam's voice broke the silence between us.

My eyes darted from the sea to the tall boy that sat next to me on the tskxe. The small white dots which carefully carved out the structure of his face was glowing amongst the vibrant 'ewll underneath the water. Neteyam's usual cold stare was replaced with a softness that I've never seen before. He looked as if the weight on his shoulders were finally crumbling, and not in a good way.

"Neteyam." As soon as his name escaped my lips, I could see the tears well up in his eyes.

I could sense that he tried to hold them back, act strong like his father the Toruk Makto, but it was useless. He shoved his head into my shoulder as if he needed to hide the sadness behind his eyes. My hands made their way to the back of his hair, pushing him closer to my body.

"My Neteyam."
