Riley Matthews was the princess of a large island called Newjorka. Her father was King Cory, a wise man who was firm but fair. Her mother, to King Cory, was a big softie. Her name was Topanga. Queen Topanga. Her brother was Prince Auggie, a prince who was always fun loving.

Farkle Minkus was a prince of Yorknatia. His father was King Stuart. He only has a father, a smart and wise one at that.

Lucas Friar was a normal boy located in Newjorka. He lived with his mother and didn't have a dad. Every day the princess went out to the market to give to the poor. And he found himself staring at her chocolate brown eyes.

Maya Hart was a maid. She was Riley's maid. She had no parents. She was smart, fearless and fun, and Riley felt she didn't have to be a princess around her. She could be free.

Riley and Farkle have an arranged marriage which they both don't want. A certain citizen of Newjorka catches Riley's eye. And Farkle finds himself falling for the maid.
